Lane Acclaim Side Server Cabinet Andre Bus
Reason why we love it, design details:
There are some pieces that are more casual, and then there are these. The Lane Acclaim Series by Andre Bus is undoubtedly one of the most iconic American Mid Century Modern designs. While we’ve seen the coffee and end tables with some regularity, this is our first dining set, which makes her über special. This listing is just for the server, but the entire set is available, please inquire if interested.
With their spindley, black-capped legs and angular dovetail-centric surfaces, these pieces are instantly recognizable. The beauty of the design, for us, lies in the balance between the bold, edgy dovetail-as-design and the soft roundness of the other aspects, such as the table’s corners or cabinet’s lines.
Even the contrasting colors embody this stylistic symmetry — the warm walnut and its creamy grain versus the clean, light oak. As only the most talented designers can, Bus harnessed the “Mid Century Scandinavian Wave” of his day and used Danish design elements in his Acclaim series for Lane, but markedly made it a singular design that was more than capable of standing on its own two legs then, and beyond.
More we can tell you about this set:
It was purchased from its original owners. It was the hearth and heart of their home for over half a century. It was loved and care for carefully. The top was covered to protect it. We have not altered any of the finishes.
